Our story: personal and close
DEVOBO was founded in 1982 by Ron ten Voorde. He started out of interest in the profession and took the opportunity to work for the municipality of Deventer. This is where the name comes from: DEventer, VOorde and BOsbouw. In the years that followed, DEVOBO grew into a forestry company with regular customers at home and abroad.
In 2016, son Sven started holiday work in the forest. He has been a company manager since 2023 and manages implementation and coordination. Ron is still the owner. So you talk to people who know the work itself, and the lines are short.
Craftsmanship and modern machinery
Since 2022, we have been working with modern machines from Ponsse: the Ponsse Bear, an eight-wheeled harvester that cuts down trees, cuts down and saws to length, and the Ponsse Buffalo, a forwarder that brings the wood to the path. Our operators have a lot of experience. Where a machine cannot be used responsibly, we work with the chainsaw, always in full protective clothing.
Safe and with care for nature
Safety is our top priority: for our own people and for hikers, cyclists and local residents. We set off work areas and place signs along paths and piles of wood. We also pay attention to what lives in the forest. We plan the work as much as possible outside the breeding season, leaving habitat trees with cavities and nests, limiting soil compaction and giving space to natural rejuvenation. For Stichting IJssellandschap, this meant immediate consultation as soon as something unexpected happened in the nature reserve.
DEVOBO on television
In January 2020, DEVOBO was on display in Holland van Boven (SBS6). Ron talks about his work as a forest and nature farmer and shows how the team works in the forest. In July 2020, Onderweg naar de Regio (RTL4) followed. In a spruce forest affected by the typewriter, Ron explains why it is important that trees are cut down in time.
